1. spatial design

Invited by Milliøns Architecture, JMStudio created two curtains for the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, New York. The colour composition of each piece is inspired by two distinct ceramics (an unidentified Japanese bowl from the 15th century and a plate from the French painter Félix Bracquemond). With these abstract translations, JMStudio conceptually complements the museum's permanent collection, mainly devoted to traditional and contemporary American ceramics.
The curtains acts like space dividers for the administrative offices and conference room.

JMStudio created this curtain for Vaisseau, the first restaurant of French chef Adrien Cachot. The colour composition is inspired by the NGC 6357, a cluster of clusters filled with luminous young stars located about 5500 light years from Earth. With its black environnement, Vaisseau is conceived like a metaphoric spaceship traveling through the new culinary territories imagined by the chef. Modular, the curtain can conceal the bar area or extend across the entire length of the restaurant.

Invited by Mous Labarat at the occasion of his personal exhibition entitled A(r)mour at MAD Brussels, JMStudio created an ensemble of fabric walls. The colours composition is inspired by the photographies of Labarat.
The placement of the three panels and the semi transparency of the tulle fabric allows to divide the space while having an overview of the exhibition.

4. installation

Covering the walls of the London Boucheron store, this silk drapery permanent installation is, unlike Justin Morin’s sculptures, functional. Thanks to an hidden rail, employees of the shop can move the different panels and access to some storage spaces. The colours composition is inspired by the reflections of amethyst and emerald.

In order to celebrate the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2019 collection, JMStudio designed the set of the after party. From the furnitures to the carpet, a clash of floral patterns covered the ballroom of the famous Eden Roc hotel.

Date of the project : 2018.

For the opening of the New Bond Street Rimowa Store in London, JMStudio has been invited to create an installation. A series of aluminium sculptures has been displayed within the space. Their shapes and movements reflected the lightness of the Rimowa products. They also have been used as a display for exotic flowers, as an invitation to the journey.

5. set design

For the Spring Summer 2020 Etudes show, JMStudio proposed a new version of Justin Morin’s installation « How to screen Mishima a life in four chapters ». By rearranging the four panels into a straight line, a semi-transparent coloured background has been created, offering a graphical response to the Etudes garments.

Date of the project : 2019.

At the occasion of the Woodkid concert proposed by Louis Vuitton, JMStudio created a minimal set design echoing the beauty of the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. Composed by a series of wood benches and platforms for the ensemble of 38 musicians, the stage design celebrates its magnificent organ. In order to make the volume the less disruptive possible, the wood used is similar to the stage’s one. The minimal aesthetic disappears behind the sensitive powerness of Woodkid’s music.

An extension of the set design for Louis Vuitton's Fall Winter 2016 fashion show, this series of windows designed for the brand's stores features a series of mirror sculptures. While the show featured broken columns, revealing an archaeology of the future, here the buildings are intact. The windows offer a glimpse of these monuments before their decline.

Date of the project : 2016.

For Louis Vuitton's Fall-Winter 2016 fashion show, JMStudio proposed an alternative vision of Melted Bones, a concrete and mirror sculpture by Justin Morin. In the set designed by Es Devlin, gigantic columns of broken mirrors create a labyrinth of reflections similar to an underwater forest, playing on the idea of “archaeology of the future”.

Date of the project : 2016.

At the occasion of the Carven Fall Winter 2016 Men’s presentation, JMStudio created an installation made of coloured background and featuring animations inspired by the prints of the collection. A blue carpet structured the trajectory of the models, walking and posing on the rhythm of the soundtrack created by French pop band The shoes. The floating walls, the screens and the floors acted as layers of  visuals interpretations of the collection.

Founded within the MA in Fashion Studies at The New School Parsons Paris, Printing Fashion is a publication exploring the culture of fashion publications. It analyses the magazine as a space of creation of imaginaries and creative encounters; but it also discloses the economic transactions, the conventions, the labour, the value exchanges, the material value, the hidden practices and figures that surround the making of a magazine. Each year the magazine focuses on a specific theme, reporting the experience of the people that produce, theorize and work in - and with - the magazine: printers, editors, academics, curators, photographers, stylists, translators, researchers, collectors, interns, advertisers, students, distributors, copywriters and many more.

Annual publication. Editors-in-chief : Justin Morin & Marco Pecorari. Published by KD Presse. First issue : 2021.

For the LV200 project, celebrating Louis Vuitton's second anniversary, Justin Morin was one of 200 artists invited to reinterpret the iconic Louis Vuitton trunk.
